About Us

Welcome to Domestic Reformation!  I realize that's a big name for this little blog, so I'll take a minute to tell you about it...

Why "Domestic Reformation"?  Webster's 1828 Dictionary defines the word "domestic" like this:

1. Belonging to the house, or home; pertaining to ones place of residence, and to the family; as domestic concerns; domestic life; domestic duties; domestic affairs; domestic contentions; domestic happiness; domestic worship.

2. Remaining much at home; living in retirement; as a domestic man or woman.
This blog is primarily about our home and the things that go on in it...I fully believe that the home is where the Lord has called me to invest my time and energy.   I have a college degree in music ministry and have tons of interests, but I have discovered that the place where I can most fully exercise my talents (at least in this phase of my life!) is at home, training and teaching my children and making it a place that is creative, comfortable and inviting.

Next, Webster defines "reform":
1. To change from worse to better; to amend; to correct; to restore to a former good state, or to bring from a bad to a good state; as, to reform a profligate man; to reform corrupt manners or morals.
There's no denying it..."domestic" life in our country and our world is broken.  I believe with all my heart that in order for the world to change, we must begin repairing the ruins of the home.  I am so blessed to have grown up in a wonderful, nurturing home and I want to impart that gift to my own family and those around me.

I am married (10 years this year!) to my high school sweetheart, Dan.  We have 4 amazing boys, ages 8, 6, 3, and 1.  We just bought a small home on 20 acres in our hometown, where we hope to put down our roots and start our own little "homestead"!  This blog will follow our progress and give a peek into the struggles, blessings, and adventures that happen along the way.  Thanks for visiting.

Blessings,
Jill, Dan, and our 4 little domestic reformers.
